UPSA performs major choral works and all types of music from the Classical to the most modern genre. The group does cultural dances from the ethnic North and South of the Philippines which they have performed internationally in Europe, Africa, USA and Asia. Under Founder and Conductor Ed Manguiat, the group has won Grand Prizes, First prizes and other Top Prizes in some of the world’s most prestigious Choral Competitions and Festivals in Arezzo & Gorizia in ITALY; Tours, FRANCE; Varna, BULGARIA; Cantonigros and Torrevieja, SPAIN; Neuchatel, SWITZERLAND; Wernigerode, GERMANY; Arnhem, The NETHERLANDS; Maasmechelen, BELGIUM; Trencianske Teplice, SLOVAKIA; Pardubice & Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC. A highlight in the group’s history is winning the Grand Prize (2001) in the Guido d’Arezzo Choral Competitions, which became its ticket to the 14th European Grand Prix for Choral Singing 2002. Thru the UPSA Outreach Program, the group helps in fundraising activities for the less privileged, visits hospital wards, homes for the aged and orphanages, and shares their music through choral workshops here and abroad. The U.P. Singing Ambassadors was the Philippine entry to the UNESCO International Music Prize (Paris, FRANCE) in 2005.
