University of the Philippines Singing Ambassadors


The Choir

The U.P. Singing Ambassadors (UPSA), one of the finest Filipino choirs today, is the University’s Official Performing Group for Choreographed Choral Music and the Resident Choir of the College of Arts and Letters (CAL). UPSA engages itself in performances of major choral works, interpretation of all types of music from the Classicals to the most modern genre. Cultural dances from the ethnic North and South form part of its international repertoire. These they have performed internationally in Europe, Africa, USA and Asia.

UPSA has been part of many national and international historic events; appeared on local and international television; done vocal back ups for the country’s top artists and most recently with international artist JOSH GROBAN ; sung for the weddings of the country’s most respected families and events of top companies in the Philippines; and performed in some of the world’s most exclusive music halls like the Arezzo Petrarca Concert Hall, the Salone Cinquecento Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, the American Church in Paris and the Sydney Opera House.

UPSA has represented Arezzo, ITALY and the PHILIPPINES in the 14th European Grand Prix (EGP) for Choral Singing 2002 when it won the Grand Prize (2001) in the most prestigious Guido d’ Arezzo Choral Competitions — one of the world’s top six (6) major competitons in Europe. It has won Grand Prizes, First Prizes and other Top Prizes in some of the world’s most prestigious Choral Competitions and Festivals in Arezzo & Gorizia in ITALY; Tours, FRANCE; Varna, BULGARIA; Cantonigros and Torrevieja, SPAIN; Neuchatel, SWITZERLAND; Wernigerode, GERMANY; Arnhem, The NETHERLANDS; Maasmechelen, BELGIUM; Trencianske Teplice, SLOVAKIA; Pardubice & Prague, Czech Republic.

UPSA engages itself in fundraising and outreach performances for the less privileged – the aged, the sick, the orphaned, street and autistic children.
